Alpha Takeaways

25/01/2016 08:26 PM

In preparation for the Twitch madness we have in store for you with the upcoming Beta, we decided to put our setup to the test and record our latest podcast live on Twitch.

Community Developers, Hamish and Yannick, were joined by Associate Live Producer, Kevin Goyon and Lead Game Designer, Mathias Karlson for an Alpha takeaway discussion. In the following discussion the team dives into how the Alpha has improved the development of the game and what to expect with the Closed Beta which starts January 28 for Xbox One and January 29 for PlayStation 4 and PC.

Thanks to the amazing feedback that we gathered during the Alpha, we’ve made many improvements and changes to the game that will be directly implemented in the Closed Beta, including:

  • More languages with the addition of French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese
  • Improved interface allowing you to change Weapon and Item Mods directly from the inventory screen
  • New weapon swap button mapping: you can now switch to your Sidearm by double tapping instead of holding
  • Another gate to the Dark Zone for the Beta
  • New Dark Zone brackets level range. If you’re level 8 you will now only encounter level 8 players and matching enemies and reward
  • New Landmarks feature in the Dark Zone. In these landmarks you will find more challenging encounters rewarding you with better loot
  • Improved loading of textures and models on console
  • A lot of additional balancing of weapons, enemy NPCs, and character progression

If you’d like to listen to the full Alpha takeaway, you can listen to it on our Soundcloud here:

You may also watch the livestream on The Division Twitch channel.

On behalf of the entire dev team, thank you and we look forward to seeing you in the Closed Beta.
