Agent Highlights: November 2017

29/11/2017 12:00 PM

Greetings, Agents!

The Division is close to the beginning of a new chapter: Resistance. Pretty much everything you need to know about Update 1.8 is already out there, so all that remains is to get it out to you! And that is going to be happening very soon indeed. But in the meantime, how about some monthly community highlights to keep you going?

As usual, we will be gifting 1000 Phoenix Credits to all featured agents. These awesome highlights deserve some awesome gear, after all!

Now then, let’s get started.

Last month, a couple of you reached out to us straight from New York City, the scene of the outbreak in The Division. We wonder if this might be turning into a regular thing, because PySikE tweeted this to us from Union Square:

“That moment when you are visiting #NYC and you don't know where you are but all you know is that you have been there before doing a mission” he says. Well, we’re glad we could give you a point of reference, PySikE. Hope you’re having a good time over there!

Maseo (@kawaii_hibana) shared his Division cosplay with us on Black Friday, fittingly enough.

What we appreciated most about his detailed outfit was the addition of a makeshift biohazard bag containing contaminated dollar bills. A simple idea and yet such a nice touch.

Now, we wonder where those bills could have come from…

Ah, there’s our answer! Here is @cfgamble doing his best Dr. Amherst impression, dismayed at his tampered bills being found so quickly by Agent Maseo.

A few months ago we featured two Division-themed cakes. It’s a rare thing to see two such distinct creations in the space of a single month, and they were so good that we just had to feature them both.

We have a similar situation on our hands this month. The difference is that now we are talking about two very well edited music videos, both setting a very different tone.

First up is this from Wild Max, entitled “Scenes of the Collapse"

We found this video incredibly touching, concentrating as it does on life in the safe zones of post-outbreak New York. On the one hand, the video focuses on the past; what had seemed so normal at the time has turned into an idyllic dream now that it has been lost. Look no further than the billboard covered in dog tags of fallen Agents and pictures of the city before everything changed – this fledgling society is not ready to let go just yet.

But life does go on, and Max does make a point of highlighting glimpses of a community coming to terms with its losses and persevering with the new life imposed on it. We’ve all seen the civilians coming together for food in amongst the Christmas preparations at the Base of Operations. But Max’s presentation of events really brings home that perhaps there really is hope for the future.

Good job, Max – thank you for sharing this.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the spectrum, Baundiesel focuses on the chaotic frontlines of New York City in his video, “Lullaby for the Collapse”.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find any semblance of hope here. This video shows about as much mercy as you’re likely to find in the Dark Zone. It’s every man and woman for themselves out there in that wintery wasteland. While Baundiesel does highlight the anarchic destruction raging across the city, he does ease up on the action every now and then to highlight the desolate aftermath of conflict. That lingering shot of the bodies hanging from the ceiling is just one example. Yet at the same time, as you can see from the battle unfolding below, there is never time to really contemplate what is actually going on. The mood is only amplified by the accompanying track, which almost conveys a feeling of acceptance. Maybe this is just the way things are going to be. We salute you too, Agent Baundiesel.

Two different perspectives on the same situation. Which one do you stand behind?

Before we finish, there is just one more thing that we couldn’t ignore… from Twitch streamer Orenji iro Sage:

We would love to see this happen! So Agents, if you would like to see what Sage can come up with, let him know on Twitter. Maybe we’ll see him among next month’s highlights?

This month has been quite heavy on music, hasn’t it? It is often a hot topic in our community team, so it’s nice to have the community giving us some food for thought!

We love your content, Agents, so please keep them coming! If you would like to be featured in our next Agent Highlights article, be sure to tweet your creation and include the hashtag #AgentHighlights.

ATTENTION: Agents, please follow @TheDivisionGame on Twitter so we can get in touch with you for the rewards.

Thank you from all of us!

Until next time,

The Division Community Team
